This morning, after the gym and on the way to playgroup, I had a *strong* hankering for a nice cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee. Conveniently, there's a Dunkin Donuts right on the way.

There I sat, parked in the lot, staring at the store, trying ot muster the energy to get both kids out of the car, safely across the parking lot, through the line and to the register, then get everyone back to the car, this time juggling a cup of hot coffee. Not to mention the idea or re-wrestling Toby into his car seat. Sigh.

What to do...
What to do...
What to do...

Yes, I resorted to asking a complete stranger if they would go in to the store an buy my coffee, offering to buy him one as well. (He was going in anyway!!) A very nice man made my day by bringing me coffee outside the Dunkin Donuts so I didn't have to schlep everyone in. He probably saved me about half an hour too.

THANK YOU NICE MAN!

(btw, drive-throughs are not legal in Acton, I'm told. WHY WHY WHY is this?)

I have an electronic timer that I use for various purposes; sometimes cooking, sometimes giving Toby warnings about upcoming events. For example, "When the timer beeps, we will put away the puzzle" or "When the timer beeps, we will be all done coloring." and so on.

Tonight, I had told him "I'm setting this for 2 minutes. When it beeps, we're going upstairs to go to bed." I continued cleaning up the kitchen from dinner. After a few minutes, I realized the timer hadn't beeped, and went looking.

It turns out Toby had put the timer into the little nook on the fridge where the water dispenser is, and poured water onto it until it stopped working. The thing is, this boy is not only fast (we were right *there*) he's clever (he made it look like he was playing with the magnetic letters). How he knew water would ruin the timer, I have no idea.

I was rather proud of myself for discussing the matter with him seriously when inside I was chuckling (and, I'll admit, rather proud of his problem-solving ability).

But I will need to buy another timer...
