Toby's story:
"Today, we walked and ate and walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and walked and walked. We went for a long walk not that long. and then ate. and then ate and ate and ate. We went over bridges. Our shoes got muddy. We went with our friends Mariah, Eliza, Caleb and Abigail. Then we went back home."

Jessica's story:
Awesome 65-70 degree weather today! yeah! We had an excellent "hike" with Mariah & co. Jake was kind of mad that he couldn't walk the whole way - he really wanted to be just like Eliza...who, while his age, is much more sure-footed. It was such a great morning!

Toby is still wearing the toilet-paper-roll binoculars, and checking the handy little compass that Mariah gave him. Thank you Mariah!

For the past few weeks, I've been getting some produce and locally-raised chicken at Butter Brook Farm, an organic farm about 10 minutes from here. I stopped by there last night on the way home from work to get a chicken to roast for dinner tonight. They had sold out for the day, but told me to come by today.

After our hike this morning, we went by the farm, but the man hadn't gone yet to pick up the chicken. They took my phone number and address, and just *dropped the chicken* here at our house.

Now, I'm not trying to advertise that Butter Brook farm delivers, because they don't, in general, I'm sure. BUT they knew that it's hard to get out w/ the kids, and that with naps I knew I couldn't get back this afternoon, so they went the extra mile.

How nice is that?
