a proud moment

This morning, going in to the gym, a nice man held the door for us. This is not at all uncommon; when people see me coming w/ the stroller, Toby, diaper bag & gym bag, they really are wonderfully helpful.

Toby walked through the door and without hesitation looked at the man and said "thank you!"

There were all sorts of people around, and they asked how old he was. I got all sorts of compliments on his polite behavior and it felt really nice. : D

"Please" and "Thank you" were in both my kids first 10 words, which led a friend to point out that they would end up being perceived as much better behaved than they really were.
