Expectations

So, why a BLOG? First, I want it out there that I don't really expect this to be of interest to anyone but me, possibly Josh, and *maybe* an Auntie or two...but only maybe.
I've never been much of a jounal-keeper. But over the last two years, watching Toby grow and learn, there have been so many sweet or funny moments that I've said to myself "I have to write that down, I don't want to forget that". But, since I don't have a journal, that's a bit tough. Josh & I have put things on our wall calendar, but that's not really a long-term solution. (I may do some back-dated entries to capture stuff)
So, this BLOG will mostly be just tidbits of our crazy life with kids; nothing dramatic, no earth-shattering revelations; just notes here & there.
That said, a few Toby notes:
* Toby now says "what you doing?" instead of "Doonin?"
* He now says (most of the time) "I love you" instead of "LUBOO!"
* He now says "Ok" rather than "oTAY!"
These are bittersweet language milestones. I really loved hearing "Doonin, Mommy?" or the time he shouted to Josh in the living room (From the kitchen) "Josh, Doonin?" (Josh! He was just working out that we have names other than Mommy & Daddy).
The other day, after wrestling Toby into his car seat, Toby & I had a bit of a chat which ended with a hug & a kiss. toby grinned at me and said "You love me, Mommy." How sweet is that? I sure do!
Jake is sleeping beautifully - during the day. So we're getting about an hour or two of sleep at a time at night. When Josh is here, he's letting me sleep in with Jake in the morning in the hopes that I will cling to the shreds of sanity I have left. Sleep deprivation is a doozie.
We're having family over tonight & we managed to make my favorite dessert, Summer berry pie (from Cooks Illustrated). It's a fantastic summer dessert, and I feel quite a sense of accomplishment in having actually cooked something.
